Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper Damian Las and U.S. U-17 MNT finish second in International Youth Tournament

Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper Damian Las and the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team finished second at the U-17 International Youth Tournament held from Oct. 12-16 in England.


The Norridge, IL., native started in net for the side's opening match against England last Friday and made four saves in a 3-1 defeat at Deva Stadium in Chester, England. Las additionally got the starting nod in the U-17's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Brazil on Oct. 14. Down 2-0 after 26 minutes, Las made five saves to help the side complete the full comeback on an 85th minute Joe Scally winner.


Las did not start in the side's final match of the tournament, a 2-1 victory over Russia's U-18s. With the win, the U.S. secured a second place finish behind winners England. The U.S. U-17 MNT will next gather for the 2018 Nike International Friendlies.
