Chicago Fire midfielder/defender Nicolas Hasler was among the starting XI for the Liechtenstein National Team in Thursday's 2-1 defeat to Armenia in the opening round of UEFA Nations League play.

After going down 1-0 in the 30th minute, Hasler assisted on the Liechtenstein equalizer just three minutes later by capping a strong run down the right flank with a slick low cross to Sandro Wolfinger for the finish.

After Liechtenstein captain Michele Polverino was shown a second yellow card in the 74th minute, Hasler was given the armband to wear for the remainder of the match. Armenia ultimately found a winner against the 10-man Liechtenstein side, securing a 2-1 victory through a Tigran Barseghyan goal in the 76th.

Hasler and Lichtenstein will next take on Gibraltar at Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz, Liechtenstein on Sept. 9.
