COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 12, 2018) – The Chicago Fire (3-5-2, 11 points) fell 3-0 to Columbus Crew SC (6-3-3, 14 points) on Saturday evening at MAPFRE Stadium.

The Fire got their first dangerous look on goal in the 21st minute when Aleksandar Katai sent a low, bouncing cross into the box. Rookie Elliot Collier sent a left-footed volley towards goal but the ball banged off the post.


The hosts opened scoring in the 28th minute after Kevin Ellis was whistled for a foul inside the box. Federico Higuain stepped up and buried the ensuing penalty kick for the 1-0 lead.


In the second half, Columbus forward Gyasi Zardes scored in the 50th and 70th minutes as Crew SC took the full three points.
