Recap: Fire Fall 2-1 to the Montreal Impact in Preseason Action

BRADENTON, Fla.(Feb. 14, 2018) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club fell 2-1 to the Montreal Impact in a preseason friendly at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. on Wednesday evening.


The Impact opened scoring in the 34th minute when Ignacio Piatti received a through ball inside the 18 yard box, cut to his right and curled his shot past a diving Richard Sanchez.


Matteo Mancosu doubled the lead just before the half when he followed up a shot that bounced off the post in the 42nd minute.


The Fire got one back in the 55th minute when they were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal. MLS SuperDraft pick Diego Campos took the ensuing restart and curled his right-footed free kick onto the head of Dax McCarty, who redirected it into goal to get the Men in Red on the board.


The Fire next face Florida Gulf Coast University at the IMG Academy on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. CT.
