Representatives from the Chicago Fire, Paris Saint-Germain, Red Star Belgrade and Legia Warsaw met with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley yesterday afternoon at City Hall to present the Mayor with scarfs and jerseys. The four competing teams from the Chicago Sister Cities International Cup all presented Mayor Daley with mementos of the inaugural international tournament hosted by the Chicago Fire.

On Wednesday, May 19 Mayor Richard M. Daley unveiled a proclamation naming May 19-22 Chicago Sister Cities International
Cup Days as the Chicago Fire prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain tonight at
7 PM CT at TOYOTA PARK for the inaugural match of the four-game tournament. The Chicago Sister Cities International Cup (CSCIC)
presented by Best Buy, will feature Legia Warsaw vs. Red Star Belgrade
immediately following the first match this evening. The Championship match will
feature the winning clubs and will immediately follow the Consolation match
scheduled at 6:00 PM CT on Saturday, May 22.
In the proclamation, Mayor
Daley praised the game of soccer as one that, “brings together athletes in
friendly competition, and forges new relationships bound by mutual admiration,
solidarity and fair play…and urge all citizens to celebrate the close ties of
friendship and exchange that Chicago shares with Warsaw, Paris and Belgrade.”
