Chicago Fire midfielder Djordje Mihailović made his sixth career appearance for the U.S. Men's National Team on Wednesday night, helping head coach Gregg Berhalter's side close out a 6-0 victory over El Salvador at Fort Lauderdale's Inter Miami CF Stadium.

The Lemont, Ill. native entered the match as a substitution in the 74th minute, taking the place of Toronto FC forward Ayo Akinola. The cap was Mihailović's first for the senior Men's National Team since 2019, when he made a pair of appearances at the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Fire defender Mauricio Pineda -- called into the senior USMNT for the first time -- was included on the bench for head coach Gregg Berhalter, but did not see the field. Both players are eligible to participate in 2021 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying when it begins next Summer.

The U.S. were victorious on the strength of a 10-minute first half stretch in which they put five goals past their regional foes. D.C. United's Paul Arriola got things started in the 17th minute, and was followed by Orlando City's Chris Mueller (20'), LA Galaxy's Sebastian Lletget (23'), Mueller again (25') and Akinola (27'). Philadelphia Union's Brenden Aaronson capped the scoring with the sixth U.S. goal in the 50th minute.

Wednesday's match was the final contest of 2020 for the U.S. Men's National Team. They'll resume preparation next year for 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying, the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, 2021 Summer Olympics qualifying, and Concacaf Nations League play.
