Chicago Fire Academy U-13s and U-14s Register Undefeated Weekend at Home in MLS NEXT Play

CHICAGO (Oct. 17, 2023) - The Chicago Fire Academy had two teams in action over the weekend at the SeatGeek Stadium turf fields in Bridgeview, Ill. The Fire registered two wins going undefeated against FC United in a successful weekend of results on home turf. 

U-13 Academy 

The youngest members of the Academy took to the pitch on Sunday morning, taking on FC United once again after prevailing 4-1 against the Illinois side in the previous weekend of MLS NEXT play. The U-13's dominated in their performance, winning with a final score of 5-0. Griffin Brill grabbed a brace in the match while teammates Markas Steponavicius, Liam Schmitz and Oscar Trujillo each scored a goal in the thrilling win. Jensyn Goranson and Gabe Corral would each record an assist in the match. 

The U-13 Academy will be back in action for MLS NEXT play on Saturday, Oct. 21 as they head to Rochester, Mich. to take on Vardar. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at the Athletic Dome in Rochester, Mich. 

U-14 Academy 

The U-14 Academy began their weekend on Sunday afternoon against FC United. This would be the second matchup between the two sides where the Fire would once again collect three points at SeatGeek Stadium winning with a score of 6-1. Caleb Aleman recorded a hat trick while teammate Michael Gomez recorded a brace, Ivan Garcia also scored a goal in the match. Gomez, Garcia, Finn McCraney, and Anthony Xavi Cervantes each registered an assist in the victory. 

The U-14's will resume MLS NEXT play on Saturday, Oct. 21 taking on Vardar. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. CT at the Athletic Dome in Rochester, Mich.
