Chicago Fire Academy Records Another Undefeated Weekend in MLS NEXT Play

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Nov. 10, 2022) - The Chicago Fire Academy continues its remarkable start to the regular season with yet another undefeated weekend of action. The Academy recorded three strong victories as well as a draw this past weekend when all four teams returned to the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches and hosted the Michigan Wolves, FC Cincinnati and Michigan Jaguars.

U-13 Academy 

The U-13’s kicked off the weekend for the Academy, defeating the Michigan Jaguars 3-1 this past Saturday. A pair of goals from George Valenti and Nicolas Lopez, an own goal from Michigan, and assists on both goals from Miguel Campos would open the weekend on a successful note for the Fire.

The following day, the U-13’s went on to record a 1-1 draw against the Michigan Wolves Academy. Scoring the lone goal for the U-13’s was Christopher Morales who helped lead the youngest members of the Academy record yet another result this season. 

The Fire currently sit in fourth place in their division, holding a record of 6-3-2, good for 20 points.

With a bye weekend approaching, the U-13’s resume play on Saturday, Nov. 19 when they host the Michigan Jaguars at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches. Kickoff is slated for 10:00 a.m. CT.

U-14 Academy 

In the first of back-to-back matches this past weekend, the U-14’s delivered with a victory of their own. The U-14’s picked up the result after defeating the Michigan Jaguars 1-0 at home. Scoring the lone goal was Aman Alakhramsing, with Gavyn Patel leading the way in goal with the clean sheet.

Offense was clicking the following day with the U-14’s recording a 7-1 rout against the Michigan Wolves Academy. An incredible team performance that was highlighted by a four-goal performance from Robert Turdean. More goals would come, with Christian Flores, Harrison Burnhardt, and Emiliano Chavez recording goals of their own. 

With the victory, the U-14’s improved to an impressive 10-0-1 record, with 31 points and a 14-point division lead. 

The U-14’s are set to resume play on Saturday, Nov. 19 when they return to SeatGeek Stadium and host the Michigan Jaguars following the bye week. That match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT.

U-15 Academy

Another undefeated streak continued this past weekend at the turf pitches, with the U-15’s recording a 2-0 victory against FC Cincinnati. Kruz Held and Vitaliy Hlyut would record goals in the victory to help guide the Fire to their first win of the weekend.

On Sunday, the scoring touch would continue. A brace from Vitaliy Hlyut, and a tally from Parker Amoo-Mensah would be all the Fire needed to record their eighth win in a row, lifting Chicago to a 3-0 victory against Cincinnati.

David Molenda and PJ Field split the goalkeeping duties, with each recording a clean sheet for the team, showcasing yet another pair of strong performances for the U-15’s. The victory ties them for the division lead alongside the Columbus Crew in MLS NEXT Flex play with a 6-0-0 record in Flex play. 

However, one of the undefeated streaks could end this weekend, with the U-15’s hosting the Crew Academy this Saturday Nov. 12 at the turf pitches. Kick-off is slated for 10:00 a.m. in Bridgeview.

U-17 Academy

Finally, with the last set of games on the weekend for the Academy, the U-17’s recorded two victories of their own. In the first, the U-17’s recorded a 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati. Kamden Held, Aleks Duncevic, and Michael Ramirez would record goals in the victory over Cincinnati.

On Sunday, they would then record a 5-1 win over the Michigan Wolves. At the forefront of the victory was Michael Flores, who recorded a hat-trick in the match. At his side was Dylan Borso who recorded a tally of his own as well as recording two assists. Daniel Zepada would also record a goal and an assist in the victory, helping lift the U-17’s to a 4-0-2 record in MLS NEXT Flex play. 

They currently sit in fourth place in the division with 14 points, only one point away from the division lead.

The oldest of the four teams will also host Columbus Crew’s Academy this weekend. Kickoff between the two is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
