Young winger Omari Glasgow is no stranger to finding the back of the net.

The Guyanese wonderkid has been a mainstay for his home country of Guyana since his mid-to-late teens, appearing in various competitions since making his senior team debut on March 30, 2021.

This past weekend, while the U.S. Men’s National Team clinched their third-consecutive CONCACAF Nations League title, Glasgow quietly took home some hardware of his own.

With seven goals in five games, Glasgow earned CONCACAF Nations League Top Scorer honors, making him the first Guyanese player to win the award. Additionally, Glasgow is the youngest player in competition history to earn the honor at just 20 years of age.

Top Scorer honors would not be the only award Glasgow took home.

For the first time in CONCACAF Nations League history, the competition honored the Top Young Player, an award given to the best player of the tournament under the age of 21, with Glasgow becoming the first-ever winner of the award.

Guyana played in the League B division of the competition, hoping to be promoted to the next tier of the tournament. Thanks in part to the heroics of Glasgow, Guyana recorded a perfect 5-0-0 record in this year’s edition and earned promotion into League A. In the following year, Guyana will compete against the top teams in the tournament for the first time in their history.

Recording seven goals and an assist, Glasgow scored in every game played by the Golden Jaguars in the CONCACAF Nations League. Highlighting his run in the competition was a hat-trick performance on Matchday 1 against Antigua and Barbuda on Sept. 29, 2023. Glasgow would become the only player to win multiple awards in the competition, as well.

For Glasgow, he has one more international friendly before returning to Chicago. Guyana will take on Cambodia in an international friendly on Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m. CT at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Glasgow, currently sitting at 14 career goals as a Golden Jaguar, is four goals away from tying Guyana’s all-time record in goals, behind forward Nigel Codrington who holds the record with 18.

Upon returning to Chicago, Glasgow looks to lead Chicago Fire FC II back to the MLS NEXT Pro postseason after an impressive 2023 campaign. Glasgow has already found the back of the net, scoring the opening goal of the season in Fire II’s season-opening 1-1 draw against FC Cincinnati 2.

Additionally, on Wednesday, April 3, Chicago Fire FC II hosts USL League One side Forward Madison FC in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at SeatGeek Stadium. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. Admission and parking for all Chicago Fire FC II matches are free.
