After his first half brace helped the 10-man Fire secure a vital three points at home against Philadelphia on Saturday, Chicago Fire forward Nemanja Nikolić has been selected to the latest MLS Team of the Week!
Nikolić got on the board 38 minutes into the match with a vintage near-post tap-in finish, courtesy of a Przemysław Frankowski one-time cross. The goal was Nikolić's 49th in MLS regular season play, pushing him into second all-time on the Fire's career goal-scoring charts. Nikolić then netted his 50th goal in first half stoppage time, sending Union goalkeeper Andre Blake the wrong way from the penalty spot and earning the Men In Red a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.
Nikolić has now scored five goals in the Fire's last four matches as they prepare for a road trip to New England to take on the Revolution on Saturday night (6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN+). Check out the rest of this week's Team of the Week below.
