A pair of Chicago Fire standouts have been recognized by Major League Soccer for their contributions to Saturday's 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls at SeatGeek Stadium.
Following their performances on the weekend, midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Dax McCarty have been included among the MLS Team of the Week for Week 5!
Starting in central defense, Schweinsteiger is listed among the week's best XI after recording a team-high 24 defensive actions (defined as tackles, recoveries, clearances, and interceptions, via Opta) to help the Fire limit the Red Bulls to a single shot on goal and preserve the Club's first clean sheet of 2019.
McCarty earned inclusion on the Team of the Week bench after a trademark quality performance in the Fire midfield that helped secure three points against his former side.
