Espinoza rides 5-game unbeaten streak into Saturday's eMLS Cup Last Chance Qualifier

Chicago Fire gamer Enrique Espinoza collected a 4-3-3 record in Friday's cross-conference competition at eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation, finishing the day on a 5-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) in Boston. 

Espinoza's 15 points earned on the day lifted him into the No. 7 position in the cumulative Eastern Conference table, enough to secure a bye in Saturday's Last Chance Qualifier round. Espinoza (gamertag: BITW18 II) will face either No. 8-seeded JKO1707 (New England Revolution) or No. 11-seeded Mike LaBelle (New York Red Bulls) Saturday morning for the right to play in the Eastern Conference's Last Chance Qualifier final. A win in that round would lift Espinoza into the knockout stages of the 2019 eMLS Cup Playoffs. 

Facing Western Conference competition for the first time in eMLS-sanctioned play, Espinoza's Friday schedule got off to a strong start with a 2-0 win over FC Dallas' AlanAvi, who began the day ranked No. 2 in the West after League Series One and League Series Two competition. Espinoza was clipped in his next match by Vancouver's Skills Shack after the Whitecaps player scored a decisive goal in the 89th minute, claiming a 2-1 win.

After taking one point from his next three matches, Espinoza came out strong following the intermission with a 2-0 win over Colorado's BuckArmy and a 1-1 draw against reigning eMLS Cup champion KidM3mito of Houston Dynamo. He then posted back-to-back wins over Minnesota United FC (2-1) and San Jose Earthquakes (3-0) before closing Friday's slate with a 1-1 draw against Sporting KC's SKC Cissé.
