- Nemanja Nikolic is set to make his 2019 debut after going as an unused substitute in the season-opening match at LA Galaxy, following the birth of his third child. Nikolic is making his 66th career MLS regular season appearance for the Fire, with 64 starts.
- Three players in the Starting XI are making their home debuts for the Men In Red: forward CJ Sapong, defender Marcelo and goalkeeper David Ousted.
- Defender Johan Kappelhof is closing in 100 career regular season appearances for the Fire. Saturday's start marks his 97th regular season match played for Chicago since joining the Club in 2016.
- Veljko Paunovic is coaching in his fourth home opener and 104th MLS regular season game as manager of the Chicago Fire.
