Match Report: Fire Advance in U.S. Open Cup with 4-0 Win

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (July 18, 2018) – The Chicago Fire advanced to their record 13th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal with a 4-0 win over Louisville City FC Wednesday evening at Toyota Park.

Nemanja Nikolić opened scoring with his header in the 16th minute and Aleksandar Katai doubled the lead with his right-footed blast in the 32nd minute to give the Fire a 2-0 advantage before halftime.

Rookie Diego Campos added to the lead in the 90th minute when he stripped the ball off Louisville’s goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski and tapped it into the goal. Elliot Collier capped scoring two minutes later with a tight-angle finish on Dobrowolski.

The draw for the semifinal and final rounds will be hosted by U.S. Soccer on Thursday, July 19. The draw will be available via live webstream at USsoccer.com.

The Fire return to MLS action against Toronto FC at Toyota Park on July 21 at 6 p.m. CT (ESPN+/Univision Deportes Chicago 1200AM). Pregame coverage will begin live on ESPN+ at 5:45 p.m. CT.
