Following Saturday's 2-1 road win over the New York Red Bulls, a pair of Chicago Fire standouts have been recognized by MLS this week for their individual contributions to the win.
Goalkeeper Richard Sánchez put in a Man of the Match performance with nine saves on the day, stifling the Red Bulls' attack and helping preserve a crucial three points away from home. For his effort, he was named to the Week 8 MLS Team of the Week in net.
In addition, Dax McCarty was selected to the Team of the Week bench after the captain chipped in a typical hard-nosed defensive performance from the heart of the Fire midfield against his former club.
