Chicago Fire defender Matt Polster suffered a Grade 2 right Medial Collateral Ligament sprain during training on March 16. His expected recovery time is approximately five to six weeks.

Polster started, went 89 minutes, and picked up an assist in the Fire's opening day defeat against Sporting Kansas City on March 10, but missed the team's trip to Minnesota United on Saturday as a result of the injury. In Polster's stead, defender Rafael Ramos slotted in to the right side of the defense.

The Fire resume MLS play on Saturday, March 31 at home against the Portland Timbers (5 p.m. CT) in a doubleheader that includes the Chicago Red Stars' 2018 home opener against the Portland Thorns (7:15 p.m. CT).
