Following the news of his call-up on Sunday, Chicago Fire midfielder David Accam made a 31-minute appearance in Ghana's 1-0 friendly loss to Mexico at Houston's NRG Stadium on Wednesday night.

The reigning MLS Player of the Week entered the game in the 59th minute, replacing Thomas Agyepong with the Black Stars down 1-0. His cameo followed a three goal and one assist performance in MLS play against Orlando City SC on Saturday, and marked his first appearance for Ghana since playing 45 minutes in a 1-1 friendly with South Africa on Oct. 11 of 2016.

Despite a flurry of late chances, Ghana were unable to undo a 31st minute penalty conversion from Mexico's Elias Hernandez. Next up, Accam could be looking at a matchup against Fire teammate Dax McCarty, as Ghana take on the U.S. Men's National Team at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, July 1.

Accam is scheduled to return to Chicago on Sunday, July 2.
