Fire holding steady in latest MLS Power Rankings

Power Rankings

A second straight road defeat for the Chicago Fire Saturday at Red Bull Arena did little to sway their standing in the latest edition of the MLS Power Rankings.

The Men In Red checked in for the second week in a row at No. 12 in the 22-team review, two spots below their season high-water mark of No. 10. The league's assessment of the road performance was short and sweet:

A road loss at RBA should not cause this team to worry. The Red Bulls rarely lose there and the Fire were the better team according to expected goals.

Of course, Veljko Paunovic and the Fire will be eager to turn expected goals into actual goals when the side travels to the opposite coast this weekend, taking on the LA Galaxy Saturday at 9:30 p.m. CT (CSN Chicago). The Galaxy are 1-3-1 at home on the year and are coming off a scoreless draw vs. Philadelphia, landing them at No. 20 in this edition of the Power Rankings.
