Bastian Schweinsteiger's first road trip with the Chicago Fire already has produced its first memorable moment, and kickoff is still a day away.
As the team landed in Toronto's Pearson International Airport Thursday afternoon, Fire assistant coach Eric Gehrig was there to capture a hilarious scene involving the German Designated Player and World Cup winner. While Basti has grown accustomed to being a coveted addition in fans' selfies the world over, this instance found him on the other side of the camera for a naive airport traveler excited to have her photo taken with some professional athletes.
Gehrig's tweet said it best. Cue all of the crying laughing emojis:
Schweinsteiger and the Fire will be in action Friday night at BMO Field to take on defending Eastern Conference champion Toronto FC. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT.
