Fire Coaches Welcomed to Chicago's St. Sava Day Celebrations

After a welcome dinner hosted by the Serbian Consulate General's office on Saturday and a meeting with Chicago Bulls forward Niko Mirotic Monday, Chicago Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic and assistant coach Marko Mitrovic again had reason to connect with their Serbian roots and the Chicagoland community on Wednesday (Jan. 27).

In between a morning training session and the club’s Valspar Jersey Launch Celebration in the evening, Paunovic and Mitrovic were able to visit Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral for annual St. Sava Day celebrations.

Known as the Illuminator and considered one of the most important figures in Serbian history, Saint Sava is the patron saint of Serbia, Serbs and Serbian education.
