Chicago jumped out to an early lead thanks to a ninth-minute goal from Kennedy Igboananike and regained the lead early in the second half after David Accam’s 57th-minute strike. However, the visitors rallied each time and capped the comeback with an own goal clincher in the 86th minute.
Match Highlights | Postmatch Quotes
Despite the result, the club celebrated the return of 2013 Volkswagen MLS Most Valuable Player Mike Magee. Magee made his first appearance since Aug. 16, 2014 after undergoing hip surgery on Sept. 8, 2014. He entered the match in the 83rd minute for teammate Matt Polster.
The Fire pulled ahead early thanks to a Designated Player connection. Accam initiated the sequence with a short corner to Harry Shipp. Shipp passed to Razvan Cocis and the Romanian midfielder returned the ball to Accam inside the area at the near post. Accam concluded the intricate sequence with a cross to Igboananike, who calmly tapped his shot into the net for his second goal of the season.
Orlando City SC pulled level in the 40th minute with the first of two Fire own goals. Sean St Ledger won a header at the back post on a corner kick and directed a shot toward Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch. Busch batted the ball away, but right into the path of teammate Adailton. The Brazilian center back’s momentum took him into the ball, forcing it into the net.

Accam put Chicago back on top in the 57th minute. Igboananike carried the ball deep into Orlando City SC’s half after beating center back Aurelien Collin’s sliding challenge near midfield on a counterattack. The Nigerian striker settled play near the sideline and then found Accam open with a centering pass. Accam re-routed to Shipp and Shipp returned to sender with the Ghanaian international open inside the box. Accam trapped and fired for his fourth goal of the season.

Canadian international Cyle Larin equalized for the visitors the 82nd minute. Larin collected a deflected ball off the foot of a Fire defender and then drilled a shot off the post and in from 23 yards out.

Orlando City SC pulled ahead four minutes later after Adailton mistakenly deflected Carlos Rivas’ cross into his own net.
The Men in Red return to action on Saturday, June 13 against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
