Chicago Fire Academy Goes Unbeaten on Memorial Day Weekend

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Chicago Fire Academy teams went undefeated over the Memorial Day weekend, recording a combined 4-0-2 record in USSDA play at Toyota Park.

Mauricio Pineda (pictured) tallied a 79th minute equalizer as the U-18s drew St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri 1-1 on Saturday. On Sunday, the U-18s defeated St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro 7-2, led by goals from Miguel Martinez, Ben Rhoder, Cameron Lindley, Ryan Sierakowski, Ian Garrett and a Matt Moderwell brace.

Djordje Mihalovic scored the lone Fire goal in the U-16s 1-1 draw against St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri on Saturday. Mihalovic then struck again Sunday, notching both goals in the U-16s 2-1 win over St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro.


The U-14s scored eight total goals over the weekend. Andrew Akindele recorded a hat trick and Lawson Sunderland also tallied in a 4-2 win over St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri on Saturday. Cesar Montes and Joshua Penn both tallied braces in a 4-1 victory over St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro on Sunday afternoon.
