CHICAGO (April 10, 2014) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Thursday that the club has loaned Giuseppe Gentile to USL PRO side Charlotte Eagles. The Fire will have the option to recall Gentile during the loan period.

“This loan gives Giuseppe an opportunity to continue to develop and play in meaningful matches,” said Chicago Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. “We’ll continue to monitor Giuseppe’s progress while he is in Charlotte, and will look to bring him back to Chicago throughout the year to participate in Open Cup and MLS Reserve League matches.”

Gentile relinquished his college eligibility after the MLS SuperDraft and signed a contract with MLS making him available to all teams. He was acquired by the Fire on Jan. 24 through the MLS Waiver Draft

In three seasons with at UNC Charlotte, Gentile scored 27 goals and tallied 12 assists in 67 career matches. In 2013, Gentile scored eight goals, including four game winners, and led his side to the Conference USA Championship, earning Tournament MVP, All-Conference First Team and First Team All-Region honors.
