Chicago Fire Soccer Club Earns 2-2 Road Draw Against D.C. United

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 29, 2014) – The Chicago Fire (0-1-3, 3 points) played D.C. United (0-2-1, 1 point) to a 2-2 draw at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon. Jhon Kennedy Hurtado’s 27th minute header and a late, 82nd minute strike from Quincy Amarikwa earned the Fire a share of the points.

Next up for the Fire is a Reserve match against NASL side Indy Eleven at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the Indy Eleven match cost $11 for general admission or $15 for reserved seating and are on sale at www.IndyEleven.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate on April 1.

Notes:

- With the draw, the Fire move to 18-17-12 all-time in MLS Regular Season matches against D.C. United, and 8-11-5 in matches played at RFK Stadium.

- Jhon Kennedy Hurtado’s goal in the 27th minute was his first MLS goal since May 16, 2009.

- Harry Shipp’s assist on Hurtado’s goal marked the second consecutive match in which the Fire Homegrown midfielder earned an assist off a corner kick.

- Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson, who recorded six saves on the night, and Fire Goalkeeper Coach Aron Hyde will depart for Phoenix, Ariz., on Sunday to join the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of the USA vs. Mexico match on April 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium at 10 p.m. CT (ESPN/UniMas).
