RELEASE: Chicago Fire Exercise Contract Options on 10 Players Ahead of Thursday's Re-Entry Draft

CHICAGO, Ill. (Monday, December 9, 2013) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the Fire have exercised the 2014 contract options on 10 players and options were declined on eight players. 

The Fire picked up the contract options on goalkeepers Sean Johnson and Alec Kann; defenders Jalil Anibaba, Austin Berry, Hunter Jumper and Steven Kinney; midfielders Alex, Brendan King and Victor Pineda; and forward Quincy Amarikwa.

Seven players were already under contract for the 2014 season: defenders Gonzalo Segares and Bakary Soumare; midfielders Dilly Duka, Jeff Larentowicz and Patrick Nyarko; and forwards Juan Luis Anangono and 2013 MLS Volkswagen MVP Mike Magee.



The Fire declined 2014 contract options on eight players including defender Michael Videira; midfielders Corben BoneJoel Lindpere, Daniel Paladini and Logan Pause; and forwards Kellen Gulley, Chris Rolfe and Maicon Santos.

“We are actively speaking with several declined and out of contract players about new deals,” said Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. “We hope to reach agreement with some of them over the next two weeks and will announce as those deals are reached."

Corben Bone, Shaun Francis, Joel Lindpere, Daniel Paladini, Logan Pause, Chris Rolfe, Maicon Santos, Wells Thompson and Michael Videira are all eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Process.
