CHICAGO, Ill. (Jan. 8, 2013) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Tuesday that Samuel Archer is the winner of the Fire’s fifth annual Open Tryout. The Rutgers University product traveled from New York and emerged from a group of 150 players to capture the club’s annual Open Tryout. Archer will join the Fire for the first phase of preseason training camp in Ave Maria, Fla. beginning Sunday, Jan. 20.

“Many skillful players emerged during the two day tryout,” said Chicago Fire Academy Director Larry Sunderland. “Sam’s composure and skill with the ball were evident throughout the process. We’re excited to have Sam join the first team during training camp later this month.”
