Corben Bone opts out of MLS Re-Entry Process

Corben Bone

It appears that Corben Bone will look to call Toyota Park his home once again in 2013 after the 23-year-old midfielder opted out of Friday afternoon’s Stage Two draft in the MLS Re-Entry process.

The team’s first round selection in 2010, Bone’s name has been  on every list put out by the league since the initial release last Monday, December 3.

Having passed through the first stage of the Re-Entry process last Friday, Bone’s decision to opt out of Friday’s draft signals that the player and club are continuing negotiations with a view towards signing a new contract.

Though having appeared in just two MLS regular season matches this season, Bone also scored in the team’s 3-2 loss to the Michigan Bucks in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on May 29 as well as scoring the equalizer in the Fire’s 2-2 friendly draw vs. Santos Laguna on September 8 at Toyota Park.

Since joining the Fire as a Generation adidas player in 2010, Bone has appeared in 22 competitive matches, tallying one goal and two assists.
