Sean Johnson

Looking Back

Many were surprised when they saw Sean Johnson’s name listed in the lineups just before the Fire’s visit with the LA Galaxy on August 1. The rookie keeper started a Sister’s Cities Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain in May, the U.S. Open Cup game against Charleston in June and two SuperLiga games leading up to the encounter, but he hadn’t been tested in Major League Soccer.

Going up against the league’s table toppers, the Fire ran out to a 3-0 lead with Johnson providing save after save, only conceding two penalty kicks in the 3-2 win.
