Tomasz Frankowski kept up the goal scoring pace with a consolation strike in Jagiellonia Bialystok’s 4-1 loss at Widez Lodz Saturday.

Down 3-0 at the half, things didn’t improve for Jaga when Piotr Grzelczak made it 4-0 after 55 minutes. Frankowski chipped in his seventh goal of the season in the 78th minute to make the score somewhat more respectable, but the match finished 4-1.
The goal was the 36-year-old striker’s third in the past two matches, leaving him second in the Polish Ekstraklasa goal scoring table, just one behind Korona Kielce’s Anderzej Niedzielan.
Despite the result, Jagiellonia still sit atop the table with a 7-2-1 record and 22 points. They turn their attention to the Polish Cup Round of 16 Tuesday where they’ll visit Korona before returning to league action Friday at home against Polonia Warszawa.
Costa Rican striker Andy Herron scored both goals in Universidad de San Carlos’s 2-0 win over Xelaju in Guatemalan league play Saturday. Herron struck in the 48th and 53rd minutes helping to lift USAC from the bottom of the 12-team table while moving their record to 4-9-1 and 13 points on the season.
With eight goals this year, Herron, like his former teammate Frankowski, sits tied for second in the Guatemalan goal scoring table, two behind leader and former LA Galaxy midfielder Guillermo “Pando” Ramirez.
Herron and USAC will look to continue their climb up the Guatemalan table when they host sixth-place Heredia at el Estadio Revolucion.

Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Irapuato suffered heartbreaking defeat Saturday to Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexican Liga Ascenso play. Falling behind 3-0 after 15 minutes following a ninth minute strike by Carlos Regis and a brace from Diego Esqueda, los Freseros fought back to equalize before the half from goals by Josue Perea (25th minute), Oscar Gonzalez (31st minute) and Esteban Gonzalez (45th minute).

Coming out of the half level, Irapuato went down a man in the 61st when Miguel Gutierrez was sent off. Ten minutes later, Guadalajara’s Esqueda completed his hat trick, sending Irapuato to its third consecutive defeat in the process.
Blanco’s side are 6-6-2, sitting eighth on 20 points in the tight 18-team Liga Ascenso table. Los Freseros will look to get back to their winning ways when they visit ninth-place Guerreros this Saturday.
The good news for Bakary Soumare and his French Ligue 2 side US Boulogne is they remained unbeaten, while keeping two clean sheets last week, the bad news, they failed to score goals over 180 minutes, earning 0-0 draws with Nantes (October 18) and at Vannes (October 22).
Soumare went 90 minutes in both defensive contests, but couldn’t help on the offensive end as Boulogne drew their fourth and fifth consecutive matches. Currently sitting 2-0-10 on 16 points, Boulogne are 10th in the Ligue 2 table, just six points behind league leaders Le Mans.
Boulogne will look to advance to the quarterfinals of the Coupe de la Ligue when they visit Valenciennes Tuesday night, before returning to Ligue 2 play when they host 18th-place Reims on Friday.
Botswanan striker Dipsy Selolwane went 45 minutes in SuperSport United’s 1-1 draw with second-place Ajax Cape Town in South African Premier League play last Wednesday.
The former Fire front man then returned and played a full 90 minutes in SuperSport’s 1-0 win against Vasco da Gama in Telekom Cup play Saturday.
Sitting 2-2-1 on seven points and in ninth place in the South African Premier League, SuperSport United will look to continue their climb up the table when they host third-place Kaiser Chiefs Sunday afternoon.
Following a neck injury suffered in a 2-1 loss to Nice on October 17, U.S. international Carlos Bocanegra was unavailable for selection by Saint Etienne manager Christophe Galtier in the club’s 1-1 home draw with Caen on Saturday.
A win would have taken Les Verts to the top of the French Ligue 1 table as Bocanegra’s former side Stade Rennes fell 1-0 to Montpelier, but they now sit third, tied on 18 points with Olympique Marseille and Brest, just point behind Rennes.
Bocanegra is expected to be out of Galtier’s lineup for at least two more weeks.

DaMarcus Beasley was again an unused substitute in Hannover’s 2-1 win over FC Koln. The result moved the north German side to 5-3-1 and 16 points, keeping them in the Bundesliga’s top three.

Beasley will hope to see action when Hannover visits former Chicago Fire Premier player Vedad Ibisevic and fourth-place TSG Hoffenheim this Sunday.
