Man Utd Daily Beat: Devils train at Toyota Park

Edwin van der Sar spent four seasons at Fulham, where he was a teammate of Brian McBride and Collins John.

BRIDGEVIEW Ill. – Manchester United was at Toyota Park on Tuesday, training and taking in the facilities ahead of Friday’s match in Toronto against Scottish club Celtic FC.

The training session – which was closed to the media and public – started around 10 a.m. CT and lasted for a couple of hours. The club briefly trained on Monday night at the University of Illinois at Chicago soccer facility.

United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar made an appearance at the Fire’s training session prior to the start of Man Utd’s practice. The former Dutch international was able to sneak in a quick hello to his former Fulham teammates Brian McBride and Collins John.

“I haven’t seen Edwin in a while, so it’s good to see him,” McBride said. “I just had a split second to say hello and he’s had training to go to so that was really it. It was a hello and family thing.”

Manchester United will hold an open training at 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday. Anyone with a ticket to Wednesday’s SuperLiga match between the Fire and Mexican club Monarcas Morelia will be admitted.
