Fire to face Charleston in US Open Cup

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that the club will face Charleston Battery from USL Second Division for the third round match of the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at TOYOTA PARK on Tuesday, June 29 at 7:30 PM CT.


Charleston Battery’s 2-1 victory over the Carolina RailHawks last night clinched the USL Second Division squad spot in the third round of the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Fire will begin their quest for a fifth U.S. Open Cup title since 1998, the club’s inaugural season.

Tickets for the Fire’s third round U.S. Open Cup match are just $15 dollars for all seats at TOYOTA PARK. Fire Season Ticket Holders and ten-game pack holders are eligible for a buy one ticket, get one ticket offer compliments of the Fire. Group prices are just $10 per ticket for groups of 15 or more. The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which is recognized as U.S. Soccer’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 95 consecutive years dating back to 1914. It is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor long-time soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
