The
Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that WPWR My50 will join Comcast
SportsNet and Univision Radio as the Club’s official broadcast partners for the
2010 MLS season. The Fire’s remaining 25 matches will be broadcast in high
definition on either a MLS broadcast network partner or the club’s local
television station and regional cable network.
“The
addition of WPWR My50 to the Fire’s broadcast platform allows the club to reach
millions of viewers in the Chicagoland and Midwest region, allowing more soccer
fans than ever access to the World's Game. Our total broadcast offering for our
growing fan base now includes Comcast SportsNet, FOX/My50 and Univision,” said
Fire President Dave Greeley.
My50
will broadcast a minimum of eight matches, Comcast SportsNet will broadcast
nine fire matches in 2010, with the remaining Fire matches available on the family
of ESPN networks (five dates), Fox Soccer Channel (six dates) or TeleFutura
(four dates).
In
addition to play-by-play broadcasts, the Fire will work with My50 to provide
soccer related content for a number of other platforms. This includes a 30-minute
post-game show, hosted by the broadcast team of Dan Kelly and Chris Doran, as
well as elements for “The Final Word” and “Good Day Chicago” on My50 sister
station WFLD FOX Chicago. The Fire will also provide website content for its
broadcast partner.
In
their first year together, the broadcasting duo of Kelly (play-by-play) and
Doran (analyst) will call the action for Fire games. Kelly and Doran will call
all local TV broadcasts as "part of the home town team" and air those
matches live as audio webcasts on Chicago-Fire.com. WFLD FOX Chicago
Meteorologist Amy Freeze returns for her third season with the Fire, reporting
from the sidelines during My50 home broadcasts. Kelly and Doran will play an
integral part of the Fire’s television and online presence, providing content
for all Chicago Fire media platforms.
