How he joined the club: Acquired from the Montreal Impact on July 16, 2018 in exchange for $400,000 in Targeted Allocation Money
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club acquired midfielder Raheem Edwards from the Montreal Impact in exchange for $400,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. Edwards is guaranteed through 2018 with club options for 2019 and 2020. Edwards was traded to the Impact after initially being selected by the Los Angeles Football Club in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft. In 2018, Edwards appeared in 14 league matches and scored two goals for Montreal, including the game-winner against the New England Revolution on May 5.
Edwards began his professional career as a member of Toronto FC II in 2015, and joined the first team in 2016. The 23-year-old scored one goal and tallied six assists in 21 league appearances during Toronto’s MLS Cup-winning campaign in 2017.
A Canadian youth international, the Toronto native made his senior debut on June 13, 2017, and was named to Canada’s roster for the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup.
