The Fire sent their 13th pick in the third round to Toronto FC for Conway. Conway becomes the third goalkeeper on the Fire’s roster. With the addition of the reserve division in 2011, the former TFC ‘keeper provides support at the goalkeeper position. The 33-year-old broke into the league with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2000 where he made 18 appearances over the course of five seasons. In 2005, Conway was traded to the New York Red Bulls. From 2006-2009, the Media, PA native, appeared in 69 matches averaging 1.345 goals against average. Conway spent 2009 with Chivas USA and 2010 with Toronto FC.

2008: Named starting goalkeeper at the beginning of the season and notched a career high in games started (28), saves (98) and minutes played (2,520). Played the team's first 28 games, posting a 1.50 goals against average and seven shutouts. Finished 2008 with a 9-10-9 record. Handed 10-game supsension by MLS on Oct. 16 for violating MLS Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Policy. Helped New York post a 380-minute shutout streak in August and September - longest in MLS.

2007: Started 12 games and finished with a 6-5-4 record with four shutouts. Finished in a tie for fourth in goals against average amongst all MLS goalkeepers with a 1.10 GAA.

2006: Started a career-high 12 games and posted a 7-3-2 record, including five shutouts. He led all MLS goalkeepers in goals against average with a 1.00 GAA. Made the first playoff start of his career vs. D.C. United.

2005: Spent the 2005 season with San Jose, before signing with the MetroStars, but did not see any action.

2004: Started five games and finished with a 2-2-1 record, two shutouts and a career-low 0.60 goals against average.

2003: Finished off the year with 11 saves and a 1.93 goals against average, having played in three games.

2002: Played in three games with San Jose, making 11 saves and allowing in six goals. Finished off the season with a 1-1 record.

2001: Appeared in one game, playing the entire 90 minutes. Made three saves, allowing one goal.

2000: Selected in the third round (28th overall) of the MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes. In his first season, he played in six games, recording 31 saves, with a 1.44 goals against average.



While at Rutgers University, the six-foot, six-inch goalkeeper allowed just 18 goals in 21 matches (0.80 GAA) as a senior in 1999. That year, Conway was named a Second Team NSCAA All-American performer. He was a three-time (1997-99) All-Region first team selection and a two-time (1998-99) Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and led Rutgers to its first-ever Big East regular-season title in 1999. .



Graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in economics. He has a younger brother, Scott, who attended Rutgers as well, taking Jon's place in the net as goalkeeper for the men's soccer team. The Conway duo started the "Conway Goalkeeper Academy" in California. Enjoys playing golf in the off-season and shot an 84 at Pebble Beach, 85 at Spanish Bay and 97 at Spyglass, widely considered one of the toughest courses in the U.S. Possesses a wealth of knowledge on fine dining. Loves the beach and has surfed since he was 10 years old. Starting his own foundation called The B. Wright Project and is involved with Ayuda for the Arts and the John T. Jackson Scholarship Foundation.
