Chief Financial Officer
Pawel Szynalik, a CPA licensed in the State of Illinois, oversees the Club’s Finance, Accounting, Administration, HR, and IT functions and works closely with each department to develop the annual strategic plan and budget.
Pawel joined the Chicago Fire in September of 2011. Prior to that, Pawel worked for more than six years in public accounting at KPMG, where he served as an Audit Manager for a variety of clients across multiple industries. Pawel was initially hired as a Controller and has developed policies and procedures across various business functions and helped strengthen the Club’s internal controls. In November of 2012, Pawel was named Vice President of Finance and Administration and in July of 2016 he was promoted to Senior Vice President.
Pawel is originally from Poland and came to the U.S. with his family when he was 11 years old. He has been living in Chicago since and is a lifelong Chicago Fire fan, beginning with the Club’s inception in 1997. One of Pawel’s fondest memories is watching the Fire win the MLS Cup as well as the US Open Cup in the Club’s inaugural season. Pawel attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago and obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Pawel and his wife Aneta currently live in Mt. Prospect and have a son named Kristian and a daughter named Emily.
