Chicago Fire move up in weekly MLS Power Rankings

Veljko Paunovic celebration

The Chicago Fire used a three-game homestand to collect seven points, earn back-to-back wins and settle into third place in the East before venturing out on a challenging stretch away from home. With Bastian Schweinsteiger now fully integrated in the side, a newly named MLS Player of the Week leading the line and a confidence-boosting 3-0 win under their belts, where did the Men In Red land in the latest MLS Power Rankings?

Well, the Fire jumped two places and cracked the top-10 in the 22-team review, moving from No. 12 to No. 10. The Fire are one spot behind defending MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC -- who visit Toyota Park on Saturday, May 13 for Chicago's next home game -- and two behind last year's MLS runners-up and this Friday night's opponent, Toronto FC.

Here's what the architects of the MLS Power Rankings had to say about the Men In Red:

Luis Solignac looks like a different player this year and looks like he will provide quality attacking depth for the Fire. Still need to see the center midfield get more time 11-v-11 before passing judgment.

Fortunately, the next chance to watch the Schweinsteiger-McCarty-Juninho midfield in action comes Friday at Toronto FC, with the broadcast available at 6:30 p.m. CT on COZI TV and MLS Live
