CHICAGO(Aug. 3, 2016) – The Chicago Fire announced today that the club has acquired striker Luis Solignac from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for General Allocation Money.

"Simply, Luis is a good footballer,” said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. "He has soft feet, is mobile, understands how to play in combination and is familiar with the demands of the League. We expect him to contribute right away."

The Argentinian has scored three goals and tallied four assists in 33 league matches since joining the Rapids on May 1, 2015.

Born in Buenos Aires, Solignac made his professional debut for his hometown side Club Atlético Platense in 2008 where he scored four goals in 14 appearances before heading out on loan to Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Braga and Argentinian side Club Atlético Banfield.

Solignac returned to Europe in 2013 when he joined Djurgårdens IF Fotboll in Sweden, scoring one goal in 14 appearances before heading to IFK Mariehamn in Finland. Solignac scored 20 goals in 41 Veikkausliiga appearances over the course of two seasons, including four multi-goal games.

In 2015 Solignac returned home and scored two goals in 10 appearances for Nueva Chicago before making his move to MLS.
