ACADEMY | Chicago Fire Academy Teams Begin Spring Season

The Chicago Fire Academy teams began their USSDA spring season on the road, taking on Vardar on Saturday, March 5 at the Evolution Sportsplex in Auburn Hills, Mich.


The Fire U-18s earned a point with a 0-0 draw against Vardar. The U-18s currently sit in fourth place in the Mid-America Division, holding the first wildcard spot with a 7-2-4 overall record.


The U-16s took a 1-0 victory over Vardar courtesy of a David Portugal goal. The U-16s sit in playoff positioning in third place in the Mid-America Division with an 8-4-1 overall record.


Roberto Alonzo and Carlos Cepeda scored for the Fire but the U-14s fell 5-2 to Vardar.


The Fire Academy sides return to action on Saturday, March 12 on the Toyota Park Turf Field against Sockers FC. Click here to view match schedules and results for all three age levels.
