The Stage Is Set: Matchups for Copa America Centenario, Soldier Field Announced

Copa America Stage is Set

CHICAGO (February 21, 2016) -- U.S. Soccer, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), and the Copa America Centenario Local Organizing Committee (LOC) on Sunday announced the complete tournament schedule for the this summer's Copa America Centenario (June 3-26). Chicago's Soldier Field is slated to host three group stage matches as part of the event: Jamaica vs. Venezuela (June 5), the United States vs. Costa Rica (June 7) and Argentina vs. Panama (June 10).


Soldier Field is also due to host one of the tournament's two semifinal matches.

Chicago was selected as one of 10 cities and venues to host the 2016 Copa America Centenario alongside Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle.


The 2016 Copa America Centenario is the historic centennial edition of Copa America – the South American championship – and will be staged outside of South America for the first time. The tournament will feature six teams from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and all 10 teams from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).


The tournament will open on Friday, June 3, when host United States welcomes Colombia to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, in Group A action. Costa Rica and Paraguay round out the highly competitive Group A. Other notable group matches include a rematch of the 2015 Copa America final between Argentina and Chile in Group D on June 6 and a second continental finals rematch when Jamaica and Mexico clash on June 9 in a replay of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
