CHICAGO (Aug. 28, 2015) – Chicago Fire Homegrown midfielder Collin Fernandez, along with Fire U-18 Academy players Cameron Lindley and Mauricio Pineda, have been named by U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos to the 23-man roster for the 2015 Stevan Volotic-Cele Tournament in Serbia.
The group will begin training on Aug. 30 in Subotica and begin tournament play against Serbia on Sept. 3, before traveling to Senta for a match against France on Sept. 4. The team will conclude the tournament with a placement match on Sept. 7.
A native of Downers Grove, Fernandez made his first team debut on July 19, 2015 on the road against the Columbus Crew when he entered the match for fellow Homegrown product Harry Shipp.
Lindley, a midfielder from Carmel, Ind., and Pineda, a defender hailing from Bolingbrook, Ill., recently led the Fire U-18s to a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake-Arizona to claim the second USSDA national title in Fire Academy history.
