Chicago Fire Selected as Potential Host for 102nd Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final

CHICAGO (Aug. 5, 2015) –U.S. Soccer announced Wednesday that should the Chicago Fire advance, the Men in Red will host the 102nd Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final at Toyota Park on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Fire face the Philadelphia Union in the semifinal round at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Fire will cover the cost of match tickets for traveling supporters who use the link found here.

Should the Fire advance to the final, tickets for the match will go on sale at noon CT on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Since 1998, the Fire have compiled a 39-12-4 record in Open Cup play, including a 26-1-1 record in matches played in the state of Illinois, reaching the semifinal round twelve times and the final six times. The Fire previously hoisted the coveted Dewar Trophy four times, in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.

The semifinal match will be available via live webstream at Chicago-Fire.com.

U.S. Soccer held a blind draw Wednesday to determine the hosting priority order for the final. In order, the teams are Chicago Fire, Real Salt Lake, Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City. In the other semifinal, Sporting Kansas City hosts Real Salt Lake at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
