Chicago Fire Academy Players Called Up to United States U-18 National Team

CHICAGO (July 8, 2015) – Chicago Fire Academy players Cameron Lindley and Maurico Pineda have been selected to the 20-man roster by head coach Javier Perez for the United States Under-18 Men’s National Team’s first domestic training camp of the year in Carson, Calif. The camp, which runs through July 14, will include two matches in the 2015 U-18 Men’s NTC Invitational Tournament.
The U-18s will open NTC Invitational play against Uruguay on July 11 at 6 p.m. CT prior to taking on Czech Republic on July 13 at 7 p.m. CT. The matches will take place on the Glenn “Mooch” Myernick Field at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson. The matches will be free to the public and streamed live on ussoccer.com.
Lindley, a midfielder from Carmel Ind. and Pineda, a defender from Bolingbrook, Ill. took part in the U-18s first training camp of the year in Medugorje, Bosnia & Herzegovina from April 22-May 1.
Lindley and Pineda join the national team after leading the Fire U-18s to a 4-3 stoppage time win over the Houston Dynamo in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy quarterfinals in Houston on July 7. Lindley recorded the assist on the first goal. With the result, the Fire U-18s advance to the semifinals, which will take place on July 16 in Carson, with the championship game set for July 18.
