Chicago Fire Soccer Club Receives Allocation Money from Chivas USA

Jhon Kennedy Hurtado

CHICAGO (Aug. 22, 2014) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that they have acquired allocation money from Chivas USA in exchange for defender Jhon Kenney Hurtado. Per MLS and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We felt this was a good opportunity to gain additional allocation money that will allow for flexibility moving forward,” said Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. “I’d like to thank Jhon for his time here in Chicago this season and wish him well with Chivas USA.”

Acquired in a trade with Seattle Sounders FC on Jan. 15, 2014, Hurtado started all 19 matches in which he appeared for the Men in Red, scoring one goal against D.C. United on March 29. A native of Palmira, Colombia, Hurtado began his professional career in 2004 with Unión Magdalena before joining the Sounders in 2009.
