On this day 15 years ago, something slightly unthinkable happened...


The Chicago Fire Soccer Club downed the only other champion MLS had known, D.C. United, 2-0 at MLS Cup 1998 in Pasadena, Calif.


Goals from Jerzy Podbrozny and Diego Gutierrez, incredible stops from Zach Thornton and an MVP performance from Piotr Nowak led the expansion side to the first of two trophies in five days.


Fire head coach Frank Klopas recently reflected on the Fire's '98 double achievement.
