Chicago Fire Defeat D.C. United 3-0 for Three Valuable Road Points

WASHINGTON, D.C.(Friday, Oct. 4, 2013) – The Chicago Fire (12-12-7, 43 points) defeated D.C. United (3-22-6, 15 points) 3-0 Friday evening at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Fire ‘keeper and U.S. international Sean Johnson made eight highlight-reel worthy saves en route to his fifth shutout of the season and the Men in Red found goals from Jeff Larentowicz, Bakary Soumare and Quincy Amarikwa to earn the crucial three points.
The Men in Red next head to Frisco, Texas to take on FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. CT (My50/TWCSC Wisconsin/La Ley 107.9).

Notes:
-With the win the Fire move to 18-17-11 all-time in regular season matches against D.C. United, including a 8-11-4 record in matches played at RFK Stadium.
-Fire vice captain Jeff Larentowicz’s 24th minute game-winning goal was his second as a Fire player.
-Ecuadorian striker Juan Luis Anangono’s assist on Larentowicz’s strike was his first since joining the Fire on July 23, 2013.  
-Fire ‘keeper Sean Johnson made eight saves on the night to earn his fifth shutout of the season and his 20th career shutout of his four-year professional career.
-Fire midfielders Joel Lindpere and Arevalo Rios will depart on Saturday, Oct. 5 to join their respective countries for FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches. Lindpere and Estonia face Turkey Oct. 11 at A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, Estonia and against Romania Oct. 15 at Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania. Rios and Uruguay take on Ecuador  Oct. 11 at Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa in Quito, Ecuador and against Argentina at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay.
