CHICAGO, Ill. (September 27, 2013) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that it has reached an agreement with Time Warner Cable Sports that makes Time Warner Cable SportsChannel the “Wisconsin Television Home of the Chicago Fire” through the 2014 season. As part of the new agreement the network will air the Fire’s upcoming Saturday evening matchup vs. the Montreal Impact beginning at 7:30 PM CT. A live pre-game show will air starting at 7:00 p.m. CT and half an hour before every Fire game airing on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.

“The ability to reach new audiences via our broadcast platform is essential for growing awareness of the Fire,” said Chicago Fire COO Atul Khosla. “The partnership with Time Warner Cable Sports, in addition to our youth expansion into Wisconsin is an important next step in growing the Fire base in and around Chicagoland."

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will televise the Fire’s four remaining local telecasts through the end of the season, excluding national broadcast games, and all regionally telecast games next season. The Fire broadcast team of Dan Kelly and Kevin Egan will call the games, which will air in Wisconsin with a distinct Time Warner Cable SportsChannel graphic package. As part of the agreement, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will air pre- and post-game shows and other non-game programming in the future.

“Partnering with the Chicago Fire to bring games to soccer fans in Wisconsin on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is such an incredible opportunity,” said Mark Strachota, General Manager, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. “We understand how deeply MLS fans care about their favorite teams and are thrilled to play a new part in growing the league.”
