Food Network Star Jamie Deen to Participate in Diabetes Awareness Events at Toyota Park June 23

CHICAGO, Ill. (June 20, 2012) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that Novo Nordisk spokesperson and host of Food Network’s “Home for Dinner with Jamie Deen,” Jamie Deen will take part in a series of activities to help educate and raise awareness for diabetes prior to the Chicago Fire vs. Columbus Crew match June 23.


Jamie Deen, son of noted author and restaurateur Paula Deen who announced in January that she has type 2 diabetes, will sign autographs and distribute recipes in FireFest (the Fire’s family-friendly, interactive area) before providing 30 invited guests with a private cooking demonstration in the Second Star Club, the premier, all-inclusive luxury club at Toyota Park. The Deens have teamed up with Novo Nordisk on Diabetes in a New Light, a national initiative that encourages adults with type 2 diabetes to take a positive approach to diabetes management and find simple ways to manage everyday challenges.
