Five Things You Should Know About Saturday's Game vs. Seattle

Plenty of storylines to talk about for tonight's match as the Fire seek their first victory as well as revenge for the 2011 U.S. Open Cup final against Seattle at Toyota Park. 1) DOMINANCE…It’s not a point I like writing but the Fire’s current league winless streak (six matches) vs. Seattle is the longest the club has gone without their first victory against any MLS side. Prior to the Sounders entry into the league, the Fire had never gone more than three matches without securing their first win against any MLS club.
2) NOT SO FAST… While the Fire have never beaten the Sounders, its not as if they’ve ever been blown away. Sitting with an 0-3-3 record against Seattle in league play, all three losses have been of the one-goal variety. Two of the three have seen the victors score inside the final five minutes.
GOAL: Nyarko Tallies Game Winner vs. Toronto

Yes, the Fire fell 2-0 at Seattle in the Open Cup final last year. This is the outlier. though we all remember the scenario in which a desperate Fire team pushed forward looking for the equalizer late, eventually getting caught out by Osvaldo Alonso’s 95^th minute goal to ice the match. Its two goals but we all know the situation…Oh, also not league play.
3) PATTY’S GOT MOTIVATION…Fresh off scoring the game winner in last week’s 3-2 victory over Toronto FC, Patrick Nyarko set his sights on Seattle early this week. One of the longest tenured members of the Fire (now into his fifth season), Nyarko recognized the challenge that has begotten his side against the rave green crew from Cascadia saying this week…
“I’ve never gotten all three points vs. Seattle since I’ve been in the league and I put that in the back of my mind. I want the three points on Saturday and I hope all the guys are in with me…I want to beat them this Saturday.”
4) UNDEFEATED ON APRIL 28… So you’re probably sick of reading how much Seattle has dominated this series so far but the Fire’s bid for a victory tonight could be boosted by history. The team has always won on April 28, going 2-0-0 in two victories over the Tampa Bay Mutiny in 2000 (5-1) and 2001 (1-0).
5) DOM’S 16… Fire striker Dominic Oduro set club history with his goal 25 seconds into last week’s win. Tonight he’ll hope to climb into the club’s upper echelon of scoring. If the team’s leading scorer tallies vs. Seattle, he’ll move onto the team’s Top 15 all-time MLS goal scoring chart, tying Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Lubos Kubik with 16 goals in just over a year since joining the Fire.
He also continues to be the Fire iron man, having appeared in all 38 regular season matches the team has played since last March’s trade from Houston.
