The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that the club has acquired goalkeeper Jay Nolly from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for a first round selection in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.

Nolly, an Indiana University product and four-year MLS veteran, appeared in 14 matches for Whitecaps FC in 2011. The 29-year-old ‘keeper joined the Whitecaps in 2008 helping the then-USL First Division side to its first USL First Division Championship while appearing in 83 matches between 2008-2010.

Nolly, originally drafted by Real Salt Lake in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, appeared in seven matches over two seasons with the Claret and Cobalt before being traded to D.C. United following the 2006 season.

While at Indiana, Nolly led the Hoosiers to back-to-back College Cups in 2003 and 2004 and was named All-Big Ten for three consecutive seasons to close his career as a collegian.
