In Day 10 of the 2011 Goal of the Year Tournament, #1 Dominic Oduro’s curling game winner in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals vs. Richmond on August 30 eased past #3 Cory Gibbs’ late diving equalizer on May 28 vs. San Jose. With the win, Oduro claims the Klopas Bracket title and awaits the winner of Tuesday’s Kubik Final between #2 Marco Pappa (March 26 vs. KC) and #4 Diego Chaves (10/15 at DC) in Thursday’s semifinal.
We move to the Armas Bracket where #1 Jalil Anibaba’s long-distance effort, “through the guise of smoke” in U.S. Open Cup qualifying March 30 vs. Colorado goes up against #2 Sebastian Grazzini’s Capital Comeback equalizer from October 15 at DC United. The winner will be crowned the Armas Bracket champion and take on Nowak champion Marco Pappa’s Hat Trick clincher (9/28 at RSL) in the first semifinal on Wednesday.
